A purple clematis flower is in full bloom. The delicate petals and stamen catch and reflect the light. I don't think I've actually seen one of these flowers in person, when I saw this photograph I was captivated by its beauty. This specific flower was photographed by Shawn Parker, who gave me permission to paint his lovely photograph. The art has a realist impressionist feel.
The original painting is a 7"x5" acrylic painting on panel. There is some texture in the background of the original. It is also available as 7"x5" Open Edition giclee prints and as 3.5"x2.5" Limited Edition ACEO giclee prints. The ACEO edition is limited to 25.
