La Sonrisa (The Smile)

Original size 8"x10" © 2016 Lisabella Russo (formerly Lisa Isabella Russo)

Dia de los Muertos / Day of the Dead was my inspiration for this art piece. This is my second Día de Muertos Catrina sugar skull inspired piece. There is some texture in the background. DDLD / DOTD is a celebration, initially of Mexican origin, that remembers those who are gone from us that we still hold in our hearts. This surreal gothic big eye fantasy girl has big brown eyes and calavera makeup and purple streaks in her hair. She has an enigmatic smile and her title is Spanish for "The Smile."

The original painting is an 8"x10" acrylic painting on panel. It is also available as 8"x10" Open Edition giclee prints and as 2.5"x3.5" Limited Edition ACEO giclee prints with some cropping. The ACEO edition is limited to 25. To see the cropped version of the ACEO in advance, please email me.
