I painted this rat in honor of Chinese New Year. In the zodiac in China, people born in the year of the rat have attributes of intelligence and diligence. They also have a happy nature, as I think does this rodent. This year it is year of the rat! I have painted the rat against a backdrop of sakura cherry blossoms. The art has a painterly realist impressionist feel.
