This is a Little Owl (Athene noctua). I was working on some sketches for a painting of the goddess Athena and her owl and this was one of my potential candidates. He didn't quite work for that painting, but I loved him so much I decided to paint him on his own. He looks at us with a curious gaze. The art has a realist impressionist feel. I've chosen to paint him on a wooden plank. There some variation to the tones of the plank and some of the bark is uneven. It is painted directly on the wooden plank and can not be removed from it. There is hanging hardware on the back so it is ready to hang! It measures approximately 10"x13"
